Hello, today I had a comment and questions on the domiciliation of salary. So thank you to Matthew for his question. I think a real post is necessary because the subject is important for those who want to leave and those who are already there.
First point: You can pay your domicile in Arabia on the condition of having your work permit (Iqama), if not impossible.
You can all the time, you have an Iqama or not, your salary domiciliation in France (or elsewhere), it was my case. Nothing requires you to have your money here or elsewhere.
Reminder expatriation is judged to time .. abroad. More precisely we count the nights, and it must of course spend more than half of the year in the country of expatriation. Domicile or no money in his country of assignment is irrelevant.
So if you spend the necessary time (nights) in Saudi, you are eligible for different tax. The agreement between the Saudi and France ... So it is not the money collected under a foreign operation is not taxed in France or abroad.
In case your husband or wife stayed in France, your YTD amount is in addition to his declaration, to calculate the level of taxation, to tax only the part 'won' in France (not part of Arabia) .. you get to follow :-)
Simply put, you are an expatriate (e), you state in France but are not taxed (e) above, you can get your money in Saudi or France
But so what?
If you are paid in Saudi is SAR (Saudi Riyals), if it is in France in €.
SAR: No exchange rate and money available quickly
€: international money transfer, payment of fees by your employer and yourself (about ten of € but depends on the amounts), transfers sometimes long (1-3 weeks), fluctuating exchange rates
In this same commentary, Matthew told me about a project type of investment buying a house or apartment. It is obvious that in this case, money domicile in France reassure the bank, but banks will not evaluate its value necessarily your contract work abroad, in short she will prefer a permanent contract in France with taxes in France. An expatriate whose employment contract is written in Arabic and who do not pay taxes, it might not be very solvent for them, but they are bankers
:-) My choice was to collect money in France, for there to be available for my wife and my children who lived in France. Everyday I used a credit card Gold or Platinum for insurance they provide. And then when the projects or just need to talk to his banker, I am more comfortable with my banker 'classic' with a Saudi bank.
Well, a bit long but in short, money is where you want. France presents its advantages but also disadvantages sometimes unpleasant (deadlines, additional cost) but this does not affect your expatriate status or the amount of your taxes.
And you, what is your choice? ;-)
